When I came to the United States from my native Perú, I was 17 years old. Now I'm just a little older.

For as long as I can remember, what captures my imagination are events or happenings that have mostly a visual impact; challenges for which I have to use skills through my hands and my perceptual and creative abilities. I am thrilled when I can build something that works, or doesn't, depending on the experiment. It's satisfying to watch something emerge into being. It can be an invention, a painting, a piece of furniture, music, a visual image, a new experience. Creation is the event, for lack of a better term, which of course renews life, but also, which reaffirms the past; at least, that which elevates the human spirit. It's so easy to get swayed or discouraged by the destruction and chaos created by forces which seek to overpower that which cannot be overpowered … life; and yet, so edifying and difficult to maintain a level of creativity which nurtures the soul and the human spirit.

Today, I seek new ideas and hopefully with a little courage, I can pursue interests which enrich my own life. In many cases they take courage to undertake because they are scary, challenging, and require strength of spirit. Often, I must make use of all my strength in order to not freeze in fear.

One of my latest interests lies in the possibilities offered by the new technology, the internet. It is opening up exciting ways to expand communication and sharing of ideas. I have to be careful to remain true to my self and not get lost in the mirage of the medium. It is not an end but a means by which I can accomplish something much bigger, communication, and the sharing of ideas.

Please, write if you feel inclined in any way, about anything on this site. I love to get into discussions of ideas and be challenged by new ones. Life is change and I strive to move with it as water in a stream, while also retaining my link to the past and to relationships I have built over the years.
